The Ceremony

Matt:

Friends, Please gather round.

Rick and Randy have invited us here today to share in the celebration of their marriage - their wedding.

We come together not to mark the start of a relationship, but to recognize a bond that already exists.

Today is a special day, one in which we can all join together and rejoice in the commitment that these two men are making to one another.

Randy:

I, Randy, take you, Rick, just as you are, above all others, to share my life.

I commit my life to our partnership in marriage. I promise to comfort you, to encourage you in all walks of life. I promise to express my thoughts and emotions to you, and to listen to you in times of joy and in times of sorrow. Rick, I love you with all my heart, and you are my closest friend. Will you let me share my life and all that I am with you?

Rick:
I will

Now a reading from a traditional Apache Wedding Poem.

Tracy:
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter to the other.
Clem:
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Karin:
Now there is no loneliness for you, for now there is no more loneliness.
Louis:
Now you are two bodies, but there is only one life before you.
Maia:
Go now to your dwelling place, to enter into your days together.
Chris:
And may your days be good, and long upon the earth.

Matt:
Let's raise our glasses in a toast to the beginning of this new union.
