Monday

Bright and early we took both cars up to Waimea Canyon to enjoy the view. At the coast the weather was sunny and clear though it got a bit foggier as we got further inland. We definitely noticed lots of chickens running around all over. We decided they must be the state bird!

On the way back we had lunch in Hanapepe, then headed back to the house. We stopped at the Kauai Coffee plantation along the way and picked up some coffee for the week. Afterwards several people headed down to the 'Spouting Horn', a natural blow-hole about a mile away from the house.

As the sun was setting we all watched and were treated to the 'green flash'. Then we all opened gifts from our 'secret Santas' (several of us had forgotten about it and had come up with gifts earlier at the coffee plantation!) For dinner Fred and Katie made pulled pork sandwiches.
