Around 7pm on March 9, we headed North to Lake Tahoe with Rick's friend Anne. After battling Bay Area traffic, we finally made it to Truckee, where we arrived at Rick's co-worker Michael and his wife Nicolette's house. It's a nice big 3 bedroom with great views. They were there for the weekend with their son Dawson and their dog Gromit. Rick and Randy got up early and headed to NorthStar on Saturday morning, Nicolette drove out to Chico and everyone else wanted to relax at the cabin. The weather was great, mostly blue skies, just a few clouds thrown in. There was actually quite a bit of powder around, but there was also a crunchy layer just a few inches down, so it made the skiing/boarding fairly tricky. Even so, we had a great time enjoying the crisp mountain air and, of course, each other's company. We took some pictures of the trees and scenery from the slopes. We were able to ski right down to the car, then we stopped for lunch and picked up some groceries for making dinner later on. After a short nap, Rick made some ravioli and bread for dinner. Then we spent several hours chatting, laughing, and drinking wine and Mexican Lattes (coffee, hot chocolate, kahlua, tequila). It was a great evening. |
